CEREC: Same Day Crown
CEREC: Same Day Crown at Bacchus Marsh, Melton & Ballan

What is CEREC Technology?
CEREC is short for Chairside Economical Restoration and Esthetic Ceramics. While this sounds like a mouthful, an easier way to understand is the term, CEramic REConstruction. It is a technology that uses a computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing to create crowns, dental inlays or onlays, and veneers in just one visit. Impressions of the mouth can be taken and uploaded into a computer for fast and precise fitting so you can be on your way.
With CEREC, modern dental materials are used that can be moulded to create your tooth restoration right in the office. Once we have uploaded your information into the computer, the crown or other dental fitting will be created from a single block of ceramic or resin. CEREC technology is precise, thanks to computer-guided imaging, so your new tooth looks natural and feels comfortable.

What to Expect
At Dental House, our gentle dental professionals’ primary goal is your comfort and satisfaction. And knowing what to expect before your visit can help you feel at ease because there will be no surprises. The following are the steps you can expect when coming in for a CEREC crown.
Risks and Recovery
CEREC crowns are designed and placed on the same day, but as with any restorative procedure, there are risks and recovery considerations.
Possible risks include:
- Temporary tooth sensitivity after crown placement
- Minor gum irritation around the treated tooth
- Risk of crown fracture or loosening under heavy biting forces
- In rare cases, further treatment such as root canal therapy may be needed if the tooth is compromised
Recovery considerations:
- Many patients return to normal activities immediately
- Sensitivity usually settles within a few days
- Avoiding very hard foods initially can help protect the new crown
- Regular dental reviews help ensure long-term success of the restoration
Benefits of a Same-Day CEREC Crown
No Temporary Crowns
This can sometimes lead to problems if the patient eats certain foods causing the crown to adjust or, in some cases, become loose. If this happens, an extra dental visit may be required to refit the crown properly. But CEREC same-day crown service removes the need for any temporary fitting as you leave with your permanent crown in just one visit.
Less Time Off
This can be inconvenient for those with a busy schedule and taking multiple days off work or school. But with CEREC, you only need one visit, as the technology allows us to get a full 3D image of your mouth and then create the crown while you wait. This is more convenient for many people as it requires less time off from work or other daily responsibilities.
Accurate Fittings
More Comfort
Excellent Success Rate
And having your teeth checked every six months not only helps your crown last longer, but also creates a higher chance that our dental professionals will catch any problems before they arise, leading to your comfort and saving you money.
Who is a Candidate for CEREC?
As with any dental procedure, not all types of crowns and dental fittings are suitable for everyone. For example, if you have a crack in your tooth below the gumline, a traditional crown may be a better option for you. But as each situation depends on the individual, our gentle and caring professionals can do an evaluation and go over the best options with you.
Download Price List
While we agree that you can’t put a price on good health (especially when it comes to your teeth), we understand the reality of family budgets. That’s why we offer flexible treatment options and family-affordable pricing. You might say the only thing average about Dental House is our prices.
