Why Are There Price Differences with Different Dental Practices?
Why Are There Price Differences with Different Dental Practices?
Well, today we’re going to share with you why there are price differences with different dental clinics, especially compared to overseas.
By the way, I’m Dr Fong, I’m the principal dentist here at Dental House Group.
Practice philosophies can be different. Some clinics are similar to a fast food restaurant. It’s quick, it’s cheap. I’m not sure about the taste part, but it’s definitely not healthy.
What’s patch up? For example, if you come in with a broken tooth and you have a really old filling there, some dentists will just put a little temporary filling on the side, charge you a fee and let you go. That tooth may break down further in a year’s time or two years time and the cost, when you add up fixing that tooth in the long term, could actually still be very expensive. We don’t encourage patch up or fast food style dental clinics in Dental House Group because we know that if we don’t treat the tooth properly, it can be more expensive and painful to treat in the future.
In Australia we have strict regulations with infection control. Personally, when I was growing up in Asia, my parents would avoid using the local health providers. Instead, they would bring us to a more developed country that has more advanced technology and higher infection control standards.
So, cost shouldn’t be the only one factor to consider when choosing your dentist.
The other factors you should take into consideration when choosing your dentist are their experience, how much time they spend with you and their way in handling their patients, especially with children. Having gentle and compassionate dentists and therapists means your children will have a great experience with their dentist and will encourage them for future visits. Finally, is the location, whether they have multiple locations making it convenient for you and your family.
So I hope now you understand why there are price differences between dental practices, and if you and your family are looking for a new home to take care of all your dental needs, we would love to look after you.
