Can composite veneers improve the size and proportion of short teeth in Bacchus Marsh?
Presenting Concerns
The patient presented with concerns about the size and proportion of her front teeth, which appeared noticeably small and short within the smile.
- Reduced Tooth Proportion: Front teeth appearing short and small relative to the surrounding smile and gum tissue
- Smile Irregularity: The visible surface area of the front teeth was reduced, affecting the overall balance of the smile
- Aesthetic Concern: Dissatisfaction with the appearance of the teeth and reluctance to smile openly as a result
The primary clinical objective was to add length and dimension to the teeth through composite veneers to improve the proportion and balance of the smile.
Treatment Plan and Process
Composite veneers were applied to build the teeth up to their intended dimensions, improving proportion within the smile.
Phase 1: Assessment and Design: A full examination confirmed the condition of the teeth and the extent of the size concerns. The intended shape and length of each veneer was planned to produce a balanced result across the smile.
Phase 2: Composite Application: Tooth-coloured composite resin was applied to each tooth, sculpted to the planned dimensions, and cured in place. The shade was matched to the natural tooth colour.
Phase 3: Finishing: The completed veneers were polished and the bite was checked to confirm the new dimensions did not affect normal function. Final adjustments were made to achieve a balanced result.
Clinical Outcome
Composite veneers were placed to add length and dimension to the front teeth, improving the proportion of the smile and reducing the size irregularity that had been a source of concern.
Individual outcomes depend on the natural tooth structure, the extent of the proportion concerns, and ongoing oral hygiene and dietary habits. Results experienced by one patient do not necessarily reflect outcomes others may experience.
