What Will I Feel Like After My Wisdom Teeth Removal?
What Will I Feel Like After My Wisdom Teeth Removal?
Hi, Dr Jimmy here from Bacchus Marsh Dental House Group.
Wondering how you’ll feel after getting your wisdom teeth removed? Let me walk you through it!
Right after the procedure, you might feel some numbness and tingling around your mouth, cheeks, and tongue. This is all thanks to the local anaesthetic we use, and it’s completely normal. It should wear off in a couple of hours.
As the numbness fades, you might start noticing some pain, swelling, and maybe a little bruising. But don’t worry, this is all part of the process, and it’s especially common on the second day. You might also find it a bit hard to open your mouth fully, but that should improve within a few days.
When it comes to eating, sticking to soft foods is key. And make sure to avoid using straws. The sucking motion can dislodge the blood clot, which could cause pain. Also, take it easy for the first couple of days. No heavy lifting or strenuous exercise. It’ll help keep the swelling and bleeding in check.
On our end, we’ll make sure you’re comfortable with some good painkillers and plenty of gauze to help you heal. Most people feel back to normal in a few days to a week, but recovery can vary for each person. But really, there’s nothing to worry about. We are the home of gentle dentistry, so we’ll take care of you!
