One of the most common questions people have about Invisalign is how the process actually works. The good news is that it is more straightforward than most people expect, and the team at Bacchus Marsh Dental House walks you through every step along the way.
How the Invisalign Process Works
Step One: Your Consultation
The process begins with a consultation to assess whether Invisalign is a suitable option for your teeth and bite. If it is, the team will carry out a digital scan of your teeth and take records including photos. A few weeks after that initial visit, you come back to begin treatment.
Your First Treatment Appointment
At this appointment, the team places small attachments on your teeth. These are tooth-coloured bumps that sit directly on the tooth surface and help the aligners apply the right pressure at each stage of treatment. Once the attachments are in place, your first set of aligners is delivered, fitted, and checked for comfort. You will also receive detailed instructions on how to wear and clean them properly.
Monitoring From Home
One of the more convenient aspects of Invisalign is that you do not need to come into the clinic every week. The team sets you up with remote monitoring so they can keep an eye on your progress from home. You will come in every couple of months to touch base, check how things are tracking, and move to the next phase of treatment.
Bite Correction at the End
For patients who also have a bite discrepancy, this can be addressed toward the end of the Invisalign process. The aligners are designed to work on both the alignment of individual teeth and the overall bite relationship over the course of treatment. Your treating dentist will discuss whether this applies to your case during the consultation.
